The loss of African, Asian and South American teams has, for many, been a great disappointment to the closing stages of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The semi-finals, and now the final, between France and Croatia, feels more like a Euro Final than a World Cup Final.
Social media, however, has added a new dimension to the entertainment of the 2018 Russia World Cup, with many humorous and insightful messages doing the rounds.
Two texts in particular, since France reached the final, caught the eye of the SMA Communications Department.
The first highlighted the browning of the French team from 1996 to the team who will represent France in the 2018 World Cup Final, with the provocative statement: ‘Don’t tell me climate change doesn’t exist’:
This was followed by a text that highlighted the African origins of 14 of the French national team, with a provocative headline and satarical conclusion:
FRANCE IS THE ONLY AFRICAN TEAM LEFT IN THE WORLD CUP ⚽
