Fr Giuseppe Berardelli, aged 72, died recently in Bergamo, Italy. He contracted the Coronavirus, and was admitted to hospital in Lovere, Bergamo. His parishioners bought a respirator for him.
Fr Giuseppe refused their generous offer, and insisted it should be given a young patient in the hospital, one he did not even know. Fr Giuseppe died later and, because of the Coronavirus restrictions, no funeral service could be held for him.
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13)
“When all the oceans have gone dry,
spooned away by a little child,
When the moon is taken from the sky,
rolled away by a growing boy,
Then, innocence will fail, and love will die.”
