Fr James [Jim] O’Hea, SMA [RIP]

Fr James [Jim] O’Hea SMA passed to his eternal reward at 9.30pm on St Patrick’s Day, 17 March 2020, in St Theresa’s Unit, African Missions, Blackrock Road, Cork. He was in his 93rd year and had been a priest for 67 years.

Fr Jim was born Woodfield, Lisavaird, Clonakilty, Co Cork in 1927, one of a family of eleven born to James O’Hea and Mary [née O’Brien].

He served for 55 years as an SMA missionary in Ibadan, Nigeria, retiring to Ireland in 2009.

Fr Jim was predeceased by his parents, his sisters Joan [Willdridge], Mary, Margaret [O’Donovan], Ellen [Kelly], Anna [Moloney] and his brothers Michael, Eugene and Denis.

He is deeply regretted by his brothers Fr John, [SMA Ibadan, Nigeria] and Dan, sister-in-law Jenny, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives, friends, the people of the Archdiocese of Ibadan, Nigeria, and confreres in the Society of African Missions.

To follow best practices and guidelines and with the support of ­­­­Fr O’Hea’s family the funeral will take place privately.
