SMA Golf competition 2017

A section of the spectators who witnessed the tense finale of the SMA 2017 Golf Classic

The annual SMA Golf competition brought together 23 SMA enthusiastic golfers and three invitees. Thanks to the generosity of the Douglas Golf Club, Cork, this two-day competition helps renew acquaintances with SMA, those based in Ireland and those home on holidays from Kenya and Zambia.

At the end of the first day there was a three-way tie at the top.

Not even the wind could stop Fr Tom Casey SMA from storming home to an historic victory!

Thursday, Day Two, was not as warm as the previous day and there was quite an amount of wind to challenge the golfers. Tom Casey maintained his lead over the field. Malachy Flanagan improved considerably.

When all the points were counted and thanks to a generous handicap, Tom Casey carried the day and the Competition with a total of 83 points [41 & 42]. Malachy Flanagan came second on 72 points [34 & 38] with Tim Cullinane in third position, one point behind. Fourth place goes to James Clesham on 69 points. Well done to all concerned.
