Euro 2016 – Prayer #3 – Manager

I know that I will be judged
(in this world at least)
by the results of the team under my management.

Give me strength of mind and body
to develop my own skills
alongside those of the players,
for listening and leadership.

At times
this calls for humility to hear the counsel of coaches and colleagues,
and also courage to make choices on my own,
the lonely decisions
in and outside the dugout.

And when the whistle blows,
at the beginning and end,
I ask for patience,
to allow and accept
what is out of my control.
